Rockets 0 : 4 Chester Nomads
A score line which in no way reflected the game.
The boys went into the second quarter all square after a really solid and organised first 10 minutes.
In the second quarter, Nomads scored following a very lucky break after our clearance hit their striker in the chest who went on to finish.
In the third quarter we were the better team and we hit the post and the crossbar from a dipping effort from Rory which the Nomads keeper did well to tip onto the bar. We also had shots cleared off the line. Unfortunately in a rare attack down our left a tame shot just crossed the line to put us two down.
Our heads dropped a little in the last two minutes and we conceded a couple of sloppy goals as we pushed forward and left space in midfield.
There are plenty of positives to be taken from the game. Our organisation in the first quarter and our attacking play and intent in the third quarter was encouraging.
MOTM was Bailey who listened to us in training and worked very hard to pressurise Nomads and tried to win the ball for us.
At times we still have two or three players going to the same ball which we need to eradicate and we will keep trying to improve this at training. We will also keep working on our re-starts from goal kicks....as while we didn't concede from this today we sometimes still go down the middle of the pitch which is dangerous.
All the boys put in good shifts and we did try to tackle hard.
Thanks for good support from the touchline and to those who helped with setting up and taking down the goals.

Hi all
Apologies for the very late postponed match last Saturday at Nomads. This was due to a change in the fixtures which came about after Nomads had confirmed the match, which meant Vicars Cross also turned up to the match! All very confusing.
We will keep the same team so more apologies to those who were away or rested and will now be rested again! We will get back on track and everyone will get same no. of games. If anyone can't do this Saturday please let me know as we have players we can bring in.
Training is on this Friday at 17:45 at pitch 3 Cheshire County Offices (Upton) on the Astro.
Our Saturday fixture is a 9:00am KO (so 8:30 arrival) at HOME against Chester Nomads. Waverton Pitches at the Community Centre.
Rested this week:
Fin Palmer
Harry Peers
Will Bird
Team:
Hugo St John Williams (g)
Lewis Jones (c)
Alex Buchanan
George Winter
Zac Jones
Bailey Graham
Rory Delafaille
Charlie Evans
William Stewart
We will continue to rotate the squad and take 9 of 12 to each game, so if you know in advance of any weekends away please let me know.
Please confirm both training & match attendance.
Thanks

MATCH REPORT - SAT 12 SEPT
ROCKETS 4 : 4 BLACON YOUTH
A really good start to the league season.
Rockets started really fast and deserved to go into the lead with a great strike by Lewis from the right hand side. We went further ahead after Bailey finished through a crowded area.
In the middle two quarters Blacon improved and got back into the game with a long range effort from their re-start before drawing level. Hugo kept us in the game with some fine saves, the best one from a free kick which was going into the top corner.
Fin put us back ahead again with a shot from the edge of the area before Blacon again equalised from a defensive mix up to make it 3-3.
George put the Rockets ahead again with a nice left foot strike and we were unlucky not to hold on for the win as we looked to break forward and seal the victory. Unfortunately we lost possession and Blacon equalised.
All in all the performance and commitment was excellent and we could definitely see some of the things we worked on in training. We kept our positions much better and used the space. We still have some organisational work to do - such as not (ever, ever, ever!) passing across our goal and trying not to lose possession in dangerous places (safety first!).
Man of the Match was Lewis for his tackling, running and a great goal. He will be Captain next week.
Thanks for the support from the touchline.
