MATCH REPORT - SAT 23 MAY

Rockets 4 : 3 Upton

A fine comeback from 0 : 2 down to win the game in the last minute!

Our boys started slowly and we conceded a couple of poor goals by giving the ball away or not clearing our lines.

In the second and third quarters we started to play much better with much  more organisation at the back. In midfield we started to get 'stuck in' with Lewis making some great tackles. Up front our strikers, George (2) & Joshua (1), both scored with fine finishes to either side of the keeper and a top corner!

We conceded another silly goal against the run of play.

At 3 : 3 we piled on the pressure in the last 10 minutes with William moving into midfield. We forced a corner with a minute to go which Lewis fired into the penalty area and the ball was deflected into the Upton net to give us the victory.

Overall a good game with some promising moments.

MATCH REPORT - 16th MAY

Rockets 0 : 6 Ellesmere Port

A heavy defeat to a combative Ellesmere Port who won most of the key battles and tackles. Our boys held out 0:0 in the first quarter but a defensive error (ball straight down the middle!) resulted in Ellesmere opening the scoring in the second quarter.

Our heads fell a little and Ellesmere Port upped their game resulting a really tough 20 minute spell where they took the game away from us.

The boys kept going and we were unlucky not a score on a few occasions.

MATCH REPORT - FRI 8 MAY

Rockets 9 - 1 Dev Squad

A really useful and enjoyable friendly against a Waverton Development team who have really come on under Robbie's training.

The Rockets started very fast with goals coming from across the team. In the second quarter we swapped players about with Hugo, Harry, Charlie, Will B and William all taking turns playing for the Dev team which evened up the play with the Dev team winning the third quarter 1-0 with a great goal from Theo.

Rockets improved in the final quarter to score a couple more goals and keep a clean sheet.

Thanks to everyone who played in atrocious conditions!

The following day the Dev team boys went on to beat Upton 8-3 !!

MATCH REPORT - SAT 2 MAY

Rockets 5 : 6 Ellesmere Port 'A'

A really great effort against a strong Ellesmere Port team playing a league higher than our boys. Ellesmere Port took a 2-0 lead early on but we fought back well to go 2-1, 3-2, 5-3, 6-4 and eventually we nearly levelled getting back to 6-5.

We were unlucky on two occasions with a deflected own goal and a very direct throw-in which just clipped Hugo before going over the line. In fairness to Ellesmere Port they had one outstanding Academy player who was a constant threat.

Highlight of the game for the Rockets was Finlay's 'Gareth Bale' goal when he took the ball from defence, ran down the wing with pace before slotting in the finish.

We used all our available players and probably suffered a bit through too many changes but it was a good exercise for the lads against a decent team.

Well done to everyone.
