MATCH REPORT - SAT 21 MARCH

Blacon Youth 4 - 8 Waverton Rockets

A brilliant display from all our boys this morning.

We played really well both individually and as a team and for long periods of the game we had a good shape with the boys holding good positions and using the wings to get forward. We scored 8 goals through George (4), Bailey (2) & Lewis (2) and hit the post a few times as well!

At times when were under pressure Alex, William & Rory defended really well and Hugo pulled off some good saves. With improved kicking from Hugo and good decision making from our defenders we are clearing our lines and any danger much better.

Will B worked very hard up front and then proved he's a very capable goalie as well in the final quarter.

Our midfield was tough tackling against a physical Blacon side. We were able to break quickly through Charlie (who made loads of tackles), Harry, Lewis and Bailey who all ran brilliantly with ball and with George up top we always looked dangerous.

Again, lots of positives and progress.

Hi all

Last minute change due to Finlay off sick and Josh being away. All 10 available will play.

If parents know in advance of weekends they are away or boys unavailable we can pre-plan the rotation of matches and training so that all the boys get maximum match time. Just email or text Rob in advance (thanks to Paul and Laura for already doing this).

WEEKLY SUBS

Hi All

Thanks to those who are all paid up.

Calculate from the subs received we are missing from three parents - so either £8 this weekend if not paid up last week, or £2 to cover pitch costs at Goals this week. Training with Robbie is usual £2 also.

The money is really important to keep us going with astro pitches, some training kit and to have something left over for a day out or awards night.

Thanks

MID WEEK TRAINING

Hi all

Just an update.

With us having no match this Saturday 14th, and having a Rockets training session on the Christleton 4G, we will look to start the mid-week (Friday's 17:30) training on Waverton Pitches just as soon as we have daylight until 18:30...so a couple of weeks time.

See you all Saturday.

TRAINING - SAT 14 MARCH

Hi all

Unfortunately Elton Youth have postponed our game this weekend so we have booked the 4G AstroTurf pitch at Christleton High School from 9am to 10am for a training session and some practise games. If we all aim to get there for 8:45am we might be able to get started a bit earlier...

All Rockets boys are selected.

We will do some training drills, some small sided games and finish with 2 x 10mins practise games.

Trainers, shin pads and water bottles required please.

Thanks
Rob & Paul

MATCH REPORT - SAT 7 MARCH

Ellesmere Port 1 - 1 Waverton Rockets

An well disciplined and enthusiastic performance from the boys resulted in a draw but we were very unlucky not to win after hitting the bar twice in the final quarter and some unbelievable saves from the Ellesmere Port goalie.

Our boys held their positions brilliantly and we played with a lot of intelligence going forward and tracking back. We were unlucky to go one down but after that we dominated the game and levelled it with a tap in from George who was in the right place to get onto Joshua's cross. Earlier Hugo had pulled off some important saves (including two great stops from free kicks).

All the boys deserve great credit and should be very proud of their performances. All were man of the matches this week.

We can take a lot of positives from today and we will keep improving and building the team spirit as the lads get to know one another better.

Thanks to everyone for great support and encouragement.
